In a report written by the Home Office in 2011, it was found that levels of knowledge of the National Referral Mechanism were concerningly low. If you are reading this and thinking ‘I don’t know what that is either’ then you are not alone.
This course will explain how the National Referral Mechanism can be used to access rights, funds, and protection for children who have been trafficked during sexual exploitation or modern slavery. Professionals will understand the advantages and disadvantages of using this referral process with children they work with – and will get the opportunity to fill in an NRM form as they learn about how to submit the best referral for the child.
The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:
- To understand the National Referral Mechanism
- To understand the usage, advantages, and disadvantages
- To look at the forms and to gain advice and tips about how to fill in the NRM form for children affected by CSE in the UK
This course meets the Children’s Home Quality Standards as outlined in The Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Children’s Homes Quality Standards 2015.
