This course, which is suitable for anyone working with young people, will look at the stereotypes, myths, and reality of self-harm. It will also examine young people’s experiences, the assessment and management of risk, and building resilience in practice.
The main learning objectives of the course are as follows:
- To know what self-harm is
- To know who self-harm affects
- To recognise what might cause children to self-harm
- To be aware of what can be done to help and support people who self-harm
This course meets the Children’s Home Quality Standards as outlined in The Children’s Homes Regulations (England) 2015 and Children’s Homes Quality Standards 2015.
